Understanding Energy, Shaping the Future: The SMARTCity Gera Energy Day
What does a sustainable energy supply in the city of tomorrow look like? The SMARTCity Gera Energy Day invites you to the SMARTCity Studio on November 11, 2026, connecting information, digital urban development, and personal exchange. Visitors will gain insights into current energy topics and can learn about the role of citizen participation, innovation, and sustainable urban planning.
Tangible Sustainable Urban Development
The SMARTCity Studio in the Gera Arcades is conceived as a place for digital education and shared experiences. In the workshop area, lounge, and co-working space, new technologies and future-oriented projects are made practically accessible. The Energy Day further promotes this idea by focusing on the connection between energy, environment, digitalization, and quality of life.
From the Energy Transition to Concrete Dialogue
The focus will be on questions that directly affect the daily lives and future of Gera: secure energy supply, sustainable urban development, and innovative concepts for a climate-conscious municipality. Previous SMARTCity Energy Days have also addressed topics such as hydrogen gas network transformation, climate protection concepts, and potential funding offers. The exchange with professionals and engaged actors creates space for understandable information and concrete questions.
SMARTCity Gera as a Model for the Future
Gera has been a SMARTCity model city since 2019. The project aims to make the city sustainable, livable, and future-ready with the help of modern technologies. Digital infrastructure, eco-friendly mobility, energy and waste concepts, and new forms of citizen participation intertwine. The Energy Day makes these complex topics tangible in an accessible event atmosphere.
An Artistic Experience of Ideas and Perspectives
Even though there is no classic exhibition at the center, the Energy Day has its own aesthetic experience: digital applications, interactive technologies, and spatial presentations open up new perspectives on the city. The focus shifts from art to societal processes; instead of painting, sculpture, and installation, data, models, and visions of a sustainable urban future take center stage. Cultural education arises here through personal discovery, questioning, and co-creation.
Conclusion: The Future Begins with Participation
The SMARTCity Gera Energy Day offers a unique free artistic experience: an informative and inspiring encounter with energy issues, digital urban development, and sustainable future design. Those who want to actively experience Gera as a model city and contribute their own questions should not miss the date at the SMARTCity Studio. Pre-registration is recommended.
