Snow White comes to new life at the Puppet Theater Gera

A magic mirror, a dark forest, and seven unusual companions: At the Puppet Theater on Gustav-Hennig-Platz, the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm experiences a poetic reinterpretation as a puppet play. The performance combines classic fairy tale dramaturgy with concentrated puppet artistry and is aimed at an audience from four years old.

A fairy tale world of wood, light, and movement

When the skillfully led stick puppets enter the stage, the playing space transforms into a world between threat and security. Snow White's escape from the jealous queen leads through dark forests to the house of the seven dwarfs. Every movement of the figures tells a story: precise, clear, and full of imagination.

Directorial debut with a personal connection

Puppeteer Marcella von Jan takes on the direction and breathes new stage life into the stick puppets by Jan Hofmann. The staging connects to a special theater history: Von Jan once performed with these figures on stage. From this connection arises a stage experience that unites craftsmanship precision and a fairy-tale atmosphere.

Dramaturgy for young viewers

The approximately 40-minute performance tells the well-known story concentrated and understandably. Tension, humor, and the hope for a good ending alternate, while the stage design, figure handling, and lighting atmosphere stimulate the imagination of the young audience. The compact form without an intermission creates an immediate theater experience for families.

Conclusion: Fairy-tale theater for the whole family

“Snow White: a Puppet Play” invites you to discover the magic of stage art up close.
